Give-away Day 2008

I am going to make this a quick post...I can just imagine how much sites you have to visit today to have a chance to win great handmade items from Sew Mama Sew's Give-away Day (3rd of December 2008). I am just happy to participate and be able to share one of things I've worked on this past year.

Do you remember these little cuties?

I came up with the pattern and instructions for the Mousie Heart Bear sometime in September. This softie was in fact the inspiration for my Etsy shop 'Simple Things'. It is very easy to sew even for a beginner and only requires fabric scraps to assemble. Hope you can give it a go!

As part of Give-away Day, I am offering the Mousie Heart Bear eBook for FREE to three (3) lucky readers. All you have to do is leave a comment here. I would appreciate it if you could give me some crafting suggestions as I'd like to try out some new things next year.

I will be using a random number generator to determine the winners. Check back on the 4th to see if you've won! The eBook (which is a PDF document) will be sent promptly via email so you can start making your softie right away. Make this part of your handmade holiday gift list and do join in!

UPDATE: It seems Sew Mama Sew missed my email, thus, failing to include my blog on their list. I have already informed them and hope to have my giveaway listed very soon. Also, I am extending the giveaway period until Sunday so more people can have a chance to participate. Will announce the winner on Monday!

Hope everyone's enjoying this Giveaway day!

  2. Very cute. I bought some tea towels today to make a tote and apron. Came in a pack of 4 colour coordinated ones (Christmas colours), can't wait to give them a go.

  3. How cute! My tip is that placemats make great, quick purses!

    ReplyDelete
  4. Here's my crafting tip. I use my leftover quilt batting scraps and make quilted handbags with them - even if the pattern doesn't always call for it, it's cheaper than the little paks of fusible or interfacing...I also have chopped up my smaller pieces to include in with polyfil to stuff a pillow or stuffie...

I am a handbag freak and am hoping to try your messenger bag tute after I finish all of my Christmas bags!

  5. Those are so cute! Hmmm...a crafting suggestion? There are just so many crafts to try. I would second the idea of trolling for placemats to use for purses, bags, etc. They have so many gorgeous ones out there to choose from!

    ReplyDelete
  6. I think that they are absolutely adorable! You are an amazing crafter! I have no suggestions as I am a beginner!

  7. I am just about to finish my-like-yours messenger bag. I will send you a photo when that finally happen :)
My crafty suggestion is... sewing a puff (I am not sure about this word...something like this to seat and relax http://tinyurl.com/puff-puff-puff

I have had it in my mind for months but I haven't found the time yet.

  8. I love reading your blog and all the things that you make. I've attempted a few things successfully and am so pleased with the way they've turned out!

Oh and my thoughts and prayers are with your mum too.

  9. Hi, I love this pattern, and thank you for this giveaway!
My tip is: I use leftover strips of bindings for quilts and make them into potholders: use 1 fabric for the back, then put batting on top, then sew the strips so the batting is covered. Trim and sew on binding with a hanging loop! These make nice presents!

  74. Those bears are so cute, and would make an adorable topper to a baby or birthday gift. I don't have any good tips off the top of my head except that I always follow the directions for something the first time, and then try to put a unique personal twist of the project after that (to make it more individualistic). Thanks!

  77. Hi, love to win the pattern. Since you are such an accomplished sewer (based on what's up on your blog) you might want to try some crazy quilting. The book, Crazy Quilting with attitude by Barbara Randle is a great place to start and its a way to use some of those scraps left over from other projects to make fun embellished handbags and home decor items. Also, as a doll maker I would have to suggest any of the doll patterns from one of my favorite designers Patti Medaris Culea's Creative Cloth Doll Faces. Hope you have great crafting into the new year.

    ReplyDelete
  78. Stuffies are the future! I think you are much better qualified to come up with them than I! I will say that bunnies and owls seem to be the rage. Good luck :)
